Barium.
Barium, when pure, is a silvery, lustrous metal, having a yellow tinge. It has rarely been obtained in the pure state, however, owing to the extreme difficulty of its preparation. It tarnishes rapidly in air, becoming coated with a film of oxide.
Alloys of barium with lead, aluminium, bismuth and antimony are sometimes found.
