Chinese Bronze
Also known as Shaku-do. A bronze employed for art metalwork. Varies in composition. The following are typical:-
Copper 94.61%, silver 1.55%, lead .11%, gold 3.73%
A similar alloy, known as Shibu-ichi, contains: copper 66.31%, silver 33.17%, iron .52%, with sometimes a touch of gold.
The gold in these alloys is important, since it enables them to acquire a very beautiful patina when used for art metal work.
