Copper Lead Alloys
This is a copper-tin-lead alloy which has been introduced from America as a bearing metal. Sometimes referred to as "Leaded Bronze" or "Plastic Bronze."
Typical compositions are:
(a) copper 78%, tin 7%, lead 15%:
(b) copper 70%, tin 5%, lead 25%.
In some instances, the lead percentage in these alloys may be as high as 45%. Usually, copper-lead alloys are employed as a thin layer on a steel shell or base.
