Magnesium
Magnesium is a silvery-white metal which does not tarnish readily in dry air but becomes covered in a white film of oxide in moist air. It is a fairly hard metal, malleable but not tough. Heated in air, it takes fire, burning with a dazzling white light which is very rich in ultra-violet rays. It is much used in pyrotechny. With aluminium it forms a series of highly important light alloys which are used in aircraft construction and the alike.
