Shot Metal
This is merely lead containing 9 parts arsenic per 1,000. It is employed for the manufacture of lead shot by allowing drops of the molten metal to fall from a considerable height into water. It is found that the presence of a small quantity of arsenic in the lead, by lowering its melting point, enables it to form more perfectly spherical droplets when falling. Also that the arsenic make the lead harder.
